Amphibian Foundation In-person Learning for Kids!

Herpetology is the study of amphibians and reptiles, and we have lots of programs for budding herpetologists, animal lovers, and nature enthusiasts. Our expanding children and young adult program catalog starts at age 0, and goes from there.

Critter Parties!

The Amphibian Foundation can send our experts to your party with amphibians and/or reptiles, and lots of fun facts and knowledge to share. You even get to pick which animals or types of animals you would like to party with!

Atlanta loves Critter Parties! We know this because we do Critter Parties almost every weekend. The interactive live demonstration and holding lasts for 45 minutes or so, with an additional 10-15 minutes at the end for pictures (and maybe a little extra holding). Second Sundays @ Amphibian Foundation

Critter Café + Critter Class

Critter Café is a delightfully casual family experience for our youngest critter enthusiasts — including ones too young for Critter Camp — and it's a time for parents too! We offer it on each second Sunday of the month (for two different age groups). $20

Critter Class, on the other hand, is for students only and is brief lesson about an amphibian or reptile group, followed by (optional) animal handling. $30

Critters & Canvases
Once each month on Sunday

Join us for an afternoon of painting at AF! Critters and Canvases is a guided painting experience for children and families, ages 6 and up. In this class, our Educator Phoebe leads the group in creating a painting inspired by one of our critter ambassadors. Each month, you'll learn about a different amphibian or reptile and create a unique piece of art! The class begins with a brief lesson on a specific critter. Afterwards, everyone joins the instructor for guided painting. If time allows, the session concludes with supervised handling of the featured critter. $45 (includes all art supplies)

Critter Camp - Weeklong Summer and School Break Camps

Critter Camp - Ages 6-9, 10-14

A weeklong exploration into the world of amphibians and reptiles.

Critter Camp is our flagship educational program, which started in 2014, and each year we greet hundreds of campers to learn about and experience the world of amphibians and reptiles. We offer Critter Camp year-round at the Amphibian Foundation (Summer and School Breaks). During the summer, we also offer Critter Camp in Decatur at the Friends School of Atlanta.
