The Lead Instructor will be responsible for guiding campers through prepared lessons and activities, helping to cultivate a love of amphibians and reptiles in each camper. Teaching Assistant

The Amphibian Foundation is seeking Teaching Assistants to aid Lead Instructors in lessons and activities at our amphibian and reptile camp, Critter Camp. No experience is necessary, as we fully train all volunteers. We provide volunteer opportunities for anyone wishing to get involved including weekly positions, seasonal opportunities, and if you would just like to help out whenever you can, we provide opportunities like that too.

Collections Department

Weekly positions are available in the live collections labs (amphibian and reptile) of the Amphibian Foundation, which consists of 5 labs and over 700 animals. Collections shifts are weekly, and are on Tues and/or Thurs and/or Fri mornings.

Volunteer Systems Assistant

The AF Facilities Manager is looking for a volunteer assistant on Tuesday mornings to assist in the maintenance of the systems providing photoperiod, thermoregulation, hydrology, and filtration in all animal holding, and educational facilities at the Amphibian Foundation. Facilities such as the Frosted Flatwoods Salamander Lab, Striped Newt Lab, Amphibian Research & Conservation Center (outdoor lab), Amphibian Lab, Squamate Lab, Venom Lab, and Special Collections.

Ocassionally, opportunities arise for field work, or large projects at the Foundation and so we put the word out to the special Projects Team, and if you are available to help — great! There are generally less than 6 of these opportunities a year..

We currently do not have an official internship program at the Amphibian Foundation. Our research interns are now trained through our Conservation Research Bridge Program. In many cases, our volunteer positions listed above can be adapted to meet the internship requirements for an individual's school or credit needs. Inquire for more details.
