Explore the incredible world of amphibians and reptiles from all over the world - from the tiny glass frog to the majestic green anaconda.

Week-long class; 90 min/day | AGES: 15-18

Each day we will focus on a different animal group. Monday, we will look at Salamanders. Tuesday focuses on Frogs. On Wednesday we will take an in-depth look at turtles. Thursday we will learn about differing species of lizards; and Friday will focus on Snakes.

On Monday, learners will be introduced to their “classroom animals” that they will get to know during the week. At the beginning of each camp day, learners will watch the instructor feed the classroom animals and learners will have Observation Time. At this time, we encourage learners to illustrate or write about what they are seeing the animals doing. Is the bearded dragon trying to assert dominance over some imaginary rival? Is the poison frog stalking his fruit flies? Is the box turtle choosing to ignore her worm and burying herself under the substrate?

After Feeding and Observation, we will move into the days’ lesson - discussing habitats, reproduction strategies, where they fit into the food web, life cycles, as well as defense strategies. Learners are encouraged to ask questions and try to help other learners answer theirs! Finally, we will look at live variations of that days’ animal. Learners will see animals from all around the world! Of course class is always more fun when you have a friend, so learners are also encouraged to bring their own critter friends to introduce to everyone.

Register, Ages 15-18
