In-person (Atlanta) | 2 hour program | First Friday of every month

This is the 21+ version of our popular children's program — Critter Camp. C & C is a casual learning experience in series format, so we focus on a specific topic or group of animals each session. — 'Reptiles and Wine — What could go wrong?'

Each Critters and Cabernet session lasts for 2 hours, and includes lessons mixed with live animal demonstrations and handling (if desired). There is, of course, no obligation to hold animals if you do not wish. The sessions occur in our glorious classroom, on the second floor of the Amphibian Foundation.

Instructors are Team Venom! AF's Venomous Training & Certification Instructors, who provide the venomous training later that weekend.

In-person (Atlanta) | Weekend workshop | Certificate program | Offered every 8 weeks

We are pleased to offer a Venomous Training and Certification Program at the Amphibian Foundation in partnership with the Rattlesnake Conservancy. If you are a land manager, environmental consultant, first responder, zoo professional, herpetology enthusiast, photographer, or private citizen looking to learn how to safely handle and relocate venomous reptiles, this course is for you!

This 2-day workshop is a comprehensive training to prepare yourself for working with venomous snakes, or encountering them in the field safely. Using the techniques and protocols laid out by TRC, not a single person (TRC, AF staff or students) has ever been bitten by a venomous serpent.

This training sets the standard for safety, husbandry, and protocol for working with venomous reptiles. Our Level 1 Program is the leading venomous training program in the United States and has been taught to over 100 students.

$20.00
Critter Café image

In-person (Atlanta) | 1 hour program | Second Sunday of every month

Critter Café is a delightfully casual family experience for our youngest critter enthusiasts, including ones too young for Critter Camp!

Each month, a brief presentation is followed by lots of supervised handling time with salamanders, frogs, turtles, lizards, and snakes. A different group is explored each month! Handling isn't required, as our goal is to provide a safe learning experience for children and their parents to explore these fascinating animals at their own pace. This program is available for children who are still too young to participate in our other programs like Critter Camp. This is not a drop-off program, rather an opportunity for parents and children to learn about these animals together.
