One of the most exciting programs we offer are school field trips to the Amphibian Foundation. Classes of any size are welcomed and we can provide a diverse selection of indoor and outdoor programming.
Located on the beautiful 30 acre Blue Heron Nature Preserve in Atlanta (Buckhead), with streams, ponds and beaver impacted wetlands, there is a lot of safe exploration which occurs on the grounds. We have a large outdoor amphibian lab with 20 artifical wetlands containing Georgia's most endangered amphibians, and students can witness first-hand, the efforts to conserve these imperiled species.
Indoors, we have a large, beautiful amphibian-themed classroom which can hold up to 50 students at a time. Field trips can be set up for a full day, or a half day, depending on the school needs.
We offer a variety of programs, which can all be customized to your school's individual needs and programming. We would be delighted to discuss with you the best way taylor our lessons to support your school's curriculum.
We offer comprehesive and customizable explorations in:
Animal Structures: Animal features, and how they are studied
Amphibians: Frogs, Salamanders
Reptiles: Turtles, Lizards, Snakes
Amphibian and/or Reptile Conservation
Behind the Scenes Tours of the Research Labs can be arranged for an additional $300 per field trip.
