Explore the magical creatures of Harry Potter and the amazing animals in our Muggle world that inspired them, with LIVE animals!

One day class; 60 Minutes | AGES: 6-9

Class Experience

Everyone wishes they could attend Hogwarts and meet all of the magical, fantastic beasts of the Wizarding World. In this class, we will not only learn all about caring for & identifying magical creatures just like Harry and his friends, but also learn about what makes the animals that inspired them (here in our world) just as fantastic! Magical creatures discussed will include: Dragons, unicorns, hippogriffs, basilisks, acromantulas and werewolves. If any students have a favorite magical creature they want to discuss, we will absolutely make time for requests!
We will discuss and see live representations of the Muggle creatures that inspired the magical creatures. These creatures will include various lizards, such as savannah monitor lizards and tegus. We will include various species of snake, tarantula and other cool arachnids, frogs, toads, salamanders, pets you can take to Hogwarts like cats, rats, and owls. We’ll be discussing the amazing, and almost magical abilities many animals here in our muggle world possess, that have inspired the amazing creatures of the wizarding world.
Students are encouraged to have fun and be as immersive and imaginative as possible! Dress up in your Hogwarts best, represent your house, bring your wands, other Harry Potter/wizard/magic themed items you’d like to use in class or share with other students, and, much like Hermione’s cat, Crookshanks and Neville’s toad, Trevor, as a student at Hogwarts you are permitted to bring along your own creature companion (both of the stuffed and live variety), so please do bring them to show the class!
